Hailey Bieber just signed off on the ‘dad bob’ for Coachella

For a minute there, we thought Hailey Bieber was growing out the bob she chopped in at the beginning of last year. We saw her flirting with a deeper chocolate hair colour and some below-the-shoulder strands, courtesy of adding extensions to her grown-out lob-length hair.

But, Hailey's posts over the weekend confirm that the bob life is still very much for her. Only this time, instead of the cute, cropped jaw-length bob she started with, Hailey's hard launched her new dad bob.

We've started seeing the style show up everywhere, from street style influencers, to celebrities, like Hailey Bieber and on the hair of the cool-girls in our office.

For the uninitiated, the dad bob plays into the wider dad aesthetic that's been steadily infiltrating fashion – like the chunky-soled dad trainers, loose fit jeans and boxier tees. The bob cut takes that feeling and channels it into a longer, blockier bob that falls between the chin and collarbone, and feels a little more grown-up (and grown-out) than short French bobs and jawbone bobs.

The style should look a little more billowy, with a retro '90s swoosh (thanks to a blast with the blow dryer), but equally, it should feel easygoing and relaxed, to track in with those dad jeans we were talking about.

Hailey posted a carousel of pictures to her grid on 14th April, showing the new style, with the nonchalant caption: “Cute weekend.” Across the eight images, she shares several close-ups of her new chop, which finishes just above her shoulders and curves under her chin to add swish and weight.

While the base layer looks blunt and thick, a few subtle layers were scattered in to add texture around her face and to add to the curved shape.

In the photo series, she also made the case for luminous green nails heading into summer.

And to complete the dad look, Hailey added an oversized leather jacket that she could have stolen straight out of her dad's wardrobe.
