If you were wondering whether we're over The Bob yet, we're not. The classic hairstyle has had over 8 billion hits on TikTok, and for 2024, bob haircuts have continued to lead trends and recruit disciples. Why? The cropped-length feels fresh, stylish, practical, groomed and a little bit audacious all at the same time. That's why it remains a hit amongst tastemakers like Hailey Bieber, Ciara, Lori Harvey and Elsa Hosk.

Of course, this one style offers an umbrella for different versions of the chop, whether you want to go shorter, bouncier or lean into nostalgia. As for which bob is on top? We've rounded up our favourite 2024 bob haircuts below…

The mob bob

It was only a matter of time before TikTok's favourite mob wife aesthetic was adapted into a shorter length to give us the mob bob. The style takes the swish, bounce and sass of longer-length mob wife hair but takes the inches shorter. Setting out the trend on TikTok, hair stylist and educator Faye Redfern explained: "[There’s] a lot of fullness on the ends […] a lot of swing in the blow dry, so it looks really fun and curved.” The takeaway? Volume and flowiness is everything.

The dad bob

We've noticed all the cool-girls gravitating toward one bob in particular. The dad bob has jumped onto the retro dad-style train we've already watched take off in fashion (see: dad trainers and dad jeans). Essentially, a longier, blockier rendition, it feels a little more grown up and grown-out than shorter jaw-length bobs. The nostalgic cut should feature a '90s weight and swoosh that feels looser and relaxed while still giving us plenty of volume. Length-wise, they should fall somewhere between your chin and collarbone.

The micro bob

Chops are getting shorter and short – which is especially evident with the rise of the micro bob, Rather than sweeping shoulders or jaws, the cut sits right along the cheekbone.

The bubble bob

Airy, floaty and seriously swooshable, like its name suggests, the bubble bob takes its inspiration from bubbles. Of course, the finished shape is bubble-like also, with ends that curve under the chin for a more rounded look. It should be a shorter length to keep the shape feeling more circular.

The box bob

A modern take on the most classic bob shape, the box bob is a box-shaped chop cut with blunt ends, clean lines and no layers or graduation of any kind (although we have seen people add a little fringe or curtain bang from time to time). It's short, sharp and sleek.

The Italian bob

The Italian bob has been taking off this year, with fans including Zendaya and The White Lotus' Simona Tabasco. It takes the full-bodied and luxuriously polished texture that Italian film sirens and fashionistas, like Monica Bellucci, are known for, and generously adds a couple of extra plush inches to the length, making it a little longer (and therefore more versatile) than other bobs.
